This stunning clutch purse showcases the art of Applique Dhebariya embroidery, skillfully handcrafted by talented craftswomen from the Kutch region of Gujarat. Made with soft cotton fabric, the purse features intricate and colorful applique work that adds a touch of vibrancy and uniqueness to its design. The hand-embroidered details are a testament to the skilled craftsmanship of local artisans. The purse also features a convenient zipper pocket inside, making it perfect for keeping your essentials organized. With its combination of traditional artistry and modern design, this clutch purse is a true masterpiece and a reflection of the rich cultural heritage of Gujarat. Artisanal Community : Dhebariya Rabari Dhebariya Rabari are one of the sub-sects of the Rabari community, and are traditionally shepherds. Since sewing embroidery for dowry was creating pressure on women, this traditional and ancient craft has been banned within the community for personal use over the past 20 years. They are known for their exquisite applique, katab (cut-work) and embroidery. Their embroidery includes birds, floral patterns, animals and mirrors of different shapes and sizes.
Currently, most Rabari women who do embroidery are of the older generation and Qasab engages with the community for revival of this distinct artwork. |
