It had been a year since her father had passed away. It was the anniversary of his passing and she was inconsolable. It was as though her life had suddenly become a dark, moonless night. Her mother consoled her and held her close in her understanding arms. She told her that no matter where he was, her father would be happy if she was happy. With that, she determinedly wiped away her tears, and decided to be her best self. She picked out the perfect outfit and then raced to the attic where she eagerly flung open a steel case of long-forgotten memorabilia. After much frantic searching, she triumphantly held up the fruit of her labour “ a pair of silver earrings that her father had bought her on the last holiday theyd taken together. Suddenly, it felt as though he was right beside, almost like he had never left “ just as the moon is still present on moonless nights, hidden away from our enquiring eyes.
